Singularity:  Short Review

One of the things that I really enjoy about Ravensoft’s games is their old school design sense and their penchant for creating shooters that don’t fall into the modern military global war genre.   If you like Sci-Fi sprinkled with a bit of time travel then this may be the game for you.  If you enjoyed Timeshift there are some similarities but I really enjoyed the combat and environmental puzzles that Ravensoft throws at you.

Singularity has some great pacing and it seems like the devs try as little as possible the wrest the control away from players, creating some immersive moments.  Like Bioshock, much of the game’s story is told through the environment and time warp flash backs that are scattered about the levels.
I like how a lot of the earlier encounters with new foes force you to think outside the box.  There was once a battle in the sewers that I failed repeatedly, but its only because I failed to use some of the gameplay tools that were given to me.

The only gripe I have is that the game's last few hours were not very challenging, and I was able to steamroll through combat fairly easily.  For those expecting a fair bit of challenge I suggest you raise the difficulty level.
